To touch base at our beginning stage (Khunjerab Pass) we fly (climate allowing) from Islamabad, the capital of Pakistan, to Gilgit at 4,770 feet. We are then transported by jeeps to the highest point of Khujerab Pass in two days with a medium-term lodging remain at Gulmit or Sost.
From the peak of the pass, our declining bike travel takes us to Gulmit in three simple five-hour days. At Gulmit a rest day is booked. This gives time to multi day climb into the profundities of this staggering valley. Karimabad, the capital of Hunza, is our next goal. Here one can do some rough mountain biking in the close-by icy valley called Hoper. The last leg of our visit comprises of a multi day ride to Gilgit. The terrific mass of Rakaposhi (25,550 feet) ascends from the bed of the Hunza River, past the Karakoram Highway with a 20,000 feet pick up; respecting it as the steepest place on our planet. With seeing Rakaposhi rich on our brains, we move into Gilgit and either fly or drive back to Islamabad.
